What's going on, World? It's been quite some time since I've publicly chronicled my thoughts on my blog, but with good reason.
I am currently proudly serving my country as a United States Marine. Having said that, I have to keep some of the things that I say pretty light, since I don't want to appear to be speaking on behalf of the military. I am aware of how these things can be misconstrued, and there are consequences for what may appear to be a lack of loyalty on my part as a non-partisan public servant. And I am. I am a servant of all of the people, but that is not to say that I will not give my honest thoughts about the direction that we are going as a collective body in pursuit of positive change.
Some other things: Well, I certainly do not live in the nation's capitol anymore. If you think that I miss it, that is putting it mildly. I went on vacation and stopped there for a few days and it felt like home, except for navigating to the train from downtown. I was never good at that. I had a great time and I was invigorated by all of the activity, the diversity, the overall mission there, which is to conduct some of the most importance business of the world.
We can all play a part in that, though, no matter where we are in the country...or globally for that matter. The more hearts and minds that we are able to touch, the better, and our technology enables us to do that. I think it's amazing to think that the last time I posted to this blog, FaceTime had not yet been thought of, and 3G was the new craze. How far have we come in such a short period of time!
So I'll let you know what I plan to do with this blog. I want to be transparent with you. Not in the conventional twitter/facebook way, where the individual is celebrated, as well as our entitled thoughts and opinions about anything from the world's current issues to things as mundane as toilet paper. I hope this blog offers insight that will enable us to act, from pop culture to politics. And in case you haven't noticed, I kind of love politics. I am that political junky. One day it will evolve into something useful, but in the interim, I continue to stand on the shoulders of the giants I aspire to become.
Stay tuned.
